Dire Wolf Gen Con 2023 Recap!

Thank you, Gen Con!

Well, it’s been a week since we landed in Indianapolis for Gen Con 2023 and we can’t say we’re over the hype just yet. If we were lucky enough to meet you there, thank you. Your support and continued love for our games is something we are extremely grateful for.

If you were there in spirit, we also thank you! Either way, we hope the latest round of announcements and upcoming projects has you as excited as we are; we’re working with some fantastic new partners and have great new games on the way!

Day One

Picture this. Tens of thousands of passionate gamers, waiting at the doors, whispering among themselves at the delights that await inside. New games, demos, DICE. The possibilities are endless. One minute after 10 am, the doors open. So commences the “Running of the Nerds” (we still can’t figure out if we like this or not).

The Dire Wolf Team and Demo Staff eagerly greet gamers, enthused about finally being able to demo Wild Tiled West to the world. Upstairs, a group of Gen Con attendees pepper our designers with curious questions about Invincible, the recently announced Hero-Building game. In the background, the shadow of Arrakis covers the wall, awaiting the contestants for the second year in a row: The Dune: Imperium 2023 North American Championship!

Day Two

The fun thing about #GenCon is you never know what thrills await you, or in this case, towers. Yes, towers. Dire Wolf was invited to the Dice Tower Awards to join some of the greatest studios and celebrate all of the games. To our delight, Dune: Imperium The Rise of Ix took home the award for Best Expansion of the Year! We wanna thank them again for the fantastic time and honor.

Day Three

On the third day, four finalists gathered in Room #233 to face off and compete for control of Arrakis. Brows sweat, hands quivered In the end, there was only one! We covered the Championship here.

Meanwhile, Zee Garcia joined us back on the convention floor for an end-of-con raffle! The giveaway? Three of our board games; Clank! Catacombs, Wild Tiled West, and Dune: Imperium. The real prize: the excitement of the crowd, and the winners.

So you can see why the hype isn’t dying down. You might say, it’s just getting started. To end the Con, there was a special mixer where we spilled the beans to a small crowd and announced some pretty great upcoming projects with some pretty cool people. I mean, really cool.
