Heads up, heroes! It’s time to save the world again in Invincible: The Hero-Building Game, Season 2, with stronger villains packing new tricks up their sleeves and battles that span the ocean, outer space, and other dimensions! But you don’t have to go it alone — Cecil Stedman has called in four fresh faces to bolster your team against these escalating threats.
These new heroes introduce bold new strategies, and can be freely mixed with the original four heroes from the base game. It’s time to meet the new reinforcements, and see what makes each one tick!
Dupli-Kate: Strength in Numbers

It’s triple trouble whenever Dupli-Kate is on the scene!
Dupli-Kate excels at making her enemies see in double — or triple, even — as she quite literally creates copies of herself to swarm her enemies with multiplying force. Her starter power, Operation Duplication, lets you field up to three Kates at once. Fill up any of her powers, and you can assign different Kates to each action on that card.

You can literally be in three places at once with Dupli-Kate — use that to your maximum advantage with Team Takedown!
There’s good news and bad news: The bad news is that Kate maintains a single health value across all copies, and it’s a measly 4 HP. The good news is that, as long as more than one Kate is in play, she cannot be KO’d. If damage would KO her, you instead remove the affected copy of Kate from the board, and then reset all of her damage tokens. Only when reduced to a single Kate can she truly be knocked out for good!

A couple hits from the baddie on the left could easily take out two Kates at once… but as long as one remains, she’ll just keep on making more!
Dupli-Kate’s copies can be smacked down almost as easily as they’re spawned, but her multiplying abilities make her perfect for covering multiple zones, overwhelming villains with coordinated strikes, or absorbing punishing attacks that would sideline other heroes. She’s died more times than most, but she just keeps coming back for more.
Shrinking Rae: Tiny Tactics

Shrinking Rae can resize via her Signature Power, granting specialized utility in both forms wherever you need it the most.
Shrinking Rae offers incredible tactical flexibility with her size-shifting abilities! With a size card that denotes her current size (and separate standees for her regular and small-sized versions), she can shrink and grow back to normal size at will using her signature power, Resize.

Being tiny can be a great way to avoid some of the nastiest blows from your enemies… but don’t expect to be able to protect civilians when you’re that small!
While small, two noteworthy effects kick in: she ignores damage from enemies, episode cards, and falter cubes, but on the flipside, she can’t protect civilians from damage. This makes her shrunken self an unmatched infiltrator who can slip into impossible spaces, survive deadly zones unscathed, and thwart villains’ plans with ease. But in those moments where it’s better to let good old-fashioned fists do the talking? Sizing back up to her normal self deals 4 damage on the spot and turns her into a frontline brawler.

With abilities on her hero card and starter power that are conditional based on her size, Shrinking Rae’s back-and-forth creates constant decision points: shrink to dodge a mounting threat, or stay big to hold the line?
Black Samson: Zero to Hero

Black Samson starts out with five powers in his Super Suit which can only be used once. But don’t count him out of the fight even once he’s used them all!
Black Samson brings veteran leadership and raw power to the team, but there’s just one problem — he’s lost his superpowers! Fortunately, it takes more than that to take Black Samson out of the fight, and he’s brought a mighty super suit to get the job done in the meantime. During setup, you’ll place his double-sided hero board on the 8-health side and put five Power Suit tokens in their slots. With no innate powers of his own, he lets his suit do the talking.

Each Power Suit token functions as a one-time-use power that can only be activated by placing fuel tokens on them. Fuel tokens — which we talked about earlier in our previous Design Diary — can normally be used to charge any power, but in the case of Samson, they’re the sole ammunition for his mighty super suit, and can be sourced from Suit Up, his starter power.
That being said, Black Samson’s de-powering might not be as permanent as he thought… and after getting sufficient use out of the power suit, you can experience him at full strength with his powers returned!

The other side of Black Samson’s Hero Card — quite the team player!
When two or fewer Power Suit tokens remain at the end of a Training Phase, you flip Black Samson’s hero board and his starter power, shifting him to the role where he shines best: a team-focused leader. He gains HP, and the ability to rescue and punch from a distance!

Suit Up allows you to power up your suit. Once you’ve used up your Super Suit tokens, this starter power flips over and allows you to power up other heroes instead!
Monster Girl: What Doesn’t Kill You Makes You Stronger

Falter Cubes are one of the deadliest new mechanics in Season 2 for our heroes… but they just make Monster Girl stronger!
Turn adversity into advantage with Monster Girl, who shines with her unique interaction with Falter Cubes. Falter Cubes (another new mechanic we introduced in our first Design Diary) are a nasty new type of cube that can end up permanently in your bag, dishing out damage to your hero every time they come out. Monster Girl is no less immune to this damage than the other Heroes, but unlike them, she can channel that pain into pure power by playing Falter Cubes as wild cubes. (Without the pesky crashing!)

Add Falter Cubes to your bag with Cursed Strength, and then use the Strengthen tokens to enhance Regenerating Strike, dealing mighty hits and heals in equal measure!
Where falter cubes would normally represent heroes losing balance or letting their guard down, Monster Girl laughs it off and converts the villains’ dirty tricks into extra fuel for her rampage. Additionally, her starter power, Cursed Strength, and signature Regenerating Strike let her dish out (and take) more punishment while staying in the fight longer than most. Want to charge headfirst into the thick of battle? Monster Girl is your bet.
