Upgrade Your Clank! Games into Master Thief Editions with the Mastery Pack!

 

The upcoming Clank! Cube of Holding and The Forgotten Vault Kickstarter is launching this week on Thursday, September 3rd, and we’re offering a smorgasbord of goodies to celebrate the 10th birthday of the original game! In addition to the titular Cube of Holding deluxe big box and the new Forgotten Vault expansion, Clank! A Deck-Building Adventure — and all of its expansions — are getting Master Thief Editions with rebalanced cards, refreshed components, new gameplay mechanisms, and more!

This, of course, will leave many veteran Clank! Players with a very valid question — what if I already have all of the games?

We don’t want any experienced dungeon-delvers to miss out on the new upgrades to the original board-based line of Clank! Games. So, for those who’d rather not have to get second copies of everything, we’ve got you covered: say hello to The Mastery Pack, which will let you upgrade your games into Master Thief Editions! Let’s take a look at what’s included in the Mastery Pack, but first, don’t forget to sign up for details before the campaign launches to get up to 17 exclusive promo cards with your pledge!

Introducing: The Mastery Pack

The Mastery Pack, in a nutshell, is a kit that allows you to upgrade your existing Clank! games with the new and revised gameplay of the Master Thief Editions, and includes components for all of the games in the original board-based Clank! line. For a full breakdown of what you’re getting in the Master Thief Editions, you can check out our earlier preview. As for the Mastery Pack, here’s what you’ll find inside:

New Game Boards

The Master Thief Editions include new boards for the base game and each of its expansions, which means you’re getting them in the Mastery Pack! These new boards include colored tunnel monster icons to support Wandering Monsters, and they also come with some added real estate — the Rage Tracks and Health Tracks have been moved to separate boards, which means all of the board spaces are now a little bit bigger! And speaking of Wandering Monsters…

The Wandering Monsters Mini-Expansion

Wandering Monsters is an all-new mini-expansion packed into the box of the Master Thief Edition of the base game. In the Mastery Pack, you’ll get the 14 Dungeon Deck cards and 40 Wandering Monster tokens that are necessary for this expansion, making it playable with any combination of the base game and expansions.

Rage Track, Ghost Cubes, and Health Track

 

The Mastery Pack includes a new Dual-Layered Health Track with inset spaces for your cubes and support for up to six players. You’ll also get a double-sided Rage Track with one side for 2-4 player games, and the other for 5-6 player games. This Rage Track has slots for Ghost Cubes, which are another addition in the Master Thief Editions, and also included here.

Adjusted Cards

With ten years of note-taking to work with, we’ve made some balance changes to a variety of cards in the base Clank!, Sunken Treasures, The Mummy’s Curse, and Adventuring Party. All 35 of these are part of the new Master Thief Editions, and will be included in The Mastery Pack. Additionally, three characters (Agnet, Lenara, and MonkeyBot Prime) in Adventuring Party also have some changes on their character boards, so you’ll be getting those as well.

Sunken Treasures Dragon Meeple

 

Starting with The Mummy’s Curse, it became a Clank! tradition to include a new boss marker in each new game and expansion. Sadly, this means that, Sunken Treasures — the only one that came before — missed out on the fun. No longer! The Master Thief Edition of Sunken Treasures comes packed with a new meeple representing its lovable(?) aquatic dragon, which means it will also be included in The Mastery Pack.

New Tokens

The Master Thief Edition introduces two new tokens in the base game (a new Major and Minor Secret), as well as a Research token for Lenara in Adventuring Party. Those, plus two additional copies of existing Minor Secrets, make for 7 tokens to be included in the Mastery Pack.
